Hero worship

Last night I met THE man... Martin Jol himself. And I also met Jermain Defoe, Michael Dawson, Hossam Ghaly and Phil Ifil. But meeting Martin Jol was like a teenybopper meeting McFly. What more could one ask for???

The reason for this occurrence you might be interested to know was after the pre-season friendly against Stevenage Boro. Spurs ran out comfortable winners, 3-0. Although if you were to look behind the scoreline you'd understand that two of the goals were late penalties. Boro's keeper, Danny Potter, was inspired and kept the the scoreline respectable. Without him, the three-man attack of Keane, Defoe and Berbatov would have certainly scored more.

I went to the game with my girlfriend and an old school-friend and we decided to hang around afterwards to soak up the atmosphere. Waiting by the main entrance, the players and coaching staff came out one by one to get on the team coach and there were plenty of kids (and me!) on hand to ask for photos and autographs. I wished JD well for the season (assuming we keep hold of him obviously) and told MJ how great it was to meet him. As you'd expect from the Messiah, he looked me in the eye and gave me one of his beaming smiles. We've certainly got a great thing going on at Spurs right now and we just need to ensure that we hold onto Carrick and Defoe until after the transfer window shuts.
