International round-up: A pretty average night

Other than the heroics of the boys from Northern Ireland, I think last night's international fixtures spun out very surprises. For England, JD and Robbo started - Defoe was replaced on 75 minutes and Robinson played the full 90 whilst clocking up another clean sheet. And as is becoming customary, Lennon came on for the last 15 minutes. All three, in my opinion, played pretty average - nothing spectacular and nothing horrific.

Some will argue that Defoe should have scored on the volley just before half time, but to be honest, even if he did he'll be dropped for the next game as Rooney is due to return. Jermain's biggest battle right now is to get into the starting side at Spurs. Failure to do so and he could have another frustrating season at international level, what with Andy Johnson and Darren Bent waiting in the wings.

Elsewhere Tainio and Young-Pyo both played for the countries again and Fulop was once again an unused substitute.

Let's just hope for some excitement come Saturday!
