Wow! An away win at Fratton Park

Well I'd never have predicted it. Pompey may have failed to score at home for a few weeks, but surely all that was going to change when we rocked up with our leaky defence? I really wasn't relishing Saturday's game - even though we have a good record against Portsmouth - as I felt with our away form and their solid start to the season we would come home with nothing.

It's a testament to Ramos and the coaching staff that he has already made significant progress in areas where we have recently struggled. I was impressed with our performance on Saturday afternoon - the Spurs players seem to chase every ball, close down their opponents at every opportunity, and give Portsmouth as little time and space as possible. And it worked. Not only that but we created chances, took one of them well, and remained resolute at the back. If someone had offered me a bet before the match that we'd keep a clean sheet I'd have laughed at them (let alone put some money down). But I though Kaboul and Zokora did a good job.

Just the sort of performance we need ahead of two tricky matches this week. We're off to Man City tomorrow for the Carling Cup quarter final - and remember, City have won all of their home games so far this season. And then it's the big one - off to the Emirates on Saturday for an unenviable trip just before Christmas.
