All hail Ramos!

Well we did it! Part of me cannot believe it but the other part of me can as I told everyone before Sunday's epic that I felt confident in our ability. And why was that? I think it's as a result of the changes introduced by a certain Juan de la Cruz Ramos Cano. We are mentally and physically fitter. We are tactically more aware. And we are hungry for success. Not a naive desire to just do our best, but a ruthless urge to win.

Sunday was one of the best days of my life. Not only was it my first Wembley final, and not only did we win, but we came from behind to deservedly beat a so-called top four side. So much has already been written and I don't have a great deal to say that hasn't already been said elsewhere.

I can't comment on the achievement though without praising Ramos. He may not have been on the pitch, but he tactically outclassed Grant and he (along with Poyet and Alvares) has transformed the group of players he inherited earlier in the season. Yes there have been a couple of new faces, but on the whole it was the same players who have been around for a year or more.

No one individual had their greatest ever performance on Sunday, but they all played well and as a team were simply superb. After making it home late evening, and a little worse for wear, I then sat in front of my TV for four hours to watch the full Sky Sports coverage from earlier in the day. And as I watched the game on TV we looked ever better than I had perhaps appreciated during the actual 90 minutes itself.

I’ve no idea what the future has in store, but with the team we now have in place (on the pitch and behind the scenes), the future looks good and I’m excited!

Great it was! We could have won it earlier and could have played better but in the end it was the mentality that Ramos has engendered in the squad that saw us through.

If anyone is interested I have written an extensive tactical review of the final... just make sure you brew a pot of coffee before you start!
