Levy prepares fans for the worst

Having returned from holiday earlier this week I was hoping to hear that that stories linking Keane with Liverpool had died down, that a foreign club had offered £30 million for Berba, that no-one other than the fringe players were being linked with moves away, and that we’d landed a few more big names. The holiday sun must have made me go crazy!

Alas, it now seems clear, even more so following Levy’s statement this evening, that both Keane and Berba will be off. Daniel Levy is preparing the fans for the worst by making it clear, through an official channel, that both players want to leave. In his rant about ManUre and Liverpool, he said:

“Today's public comments by Manchester United's manager, announcing that he has made an offer for Dimitar and is confident that the deal will go through with time working in their favour, is a blatant example of sheer arrogance and interference with one of our players. It is also probably one of the worst offences by any manager in the Premier League to date and is unbelievably hypocritical given his recent comments in respect of Cristiano Ronaldo and Real Madrid… Benitez made similar comments in respect of Robbie recently… The behaviour of both clubs has been disgraceful.”
And despite the fact that he’d “told both clubs very early on that we had no interest in selling Robbie or Dimitar” the players are sure to be sold. He confirmed that:

“I have absolutely no wish to sell either player and to date we have not accepted any offer for either. However, when a player's head is turned and their commitment is absent, particularly when they occupy key positions such as that of striker, they become a negative influence in a team dressing room in which they were once a positive addition and influence. This is the situation we now have on our hands, with both Dimitar and Robbie having made it clear that they wish to leave for Manchester Utd and Liverpool respectively.”
Levy has always played the “game” of being a Premier League chairman well (other than the BMJ exit), and so I’m not surprised that he has felt the need to speak out. But it is clear that there is now no going back. To publicly state that both players have made it clear they want to leave and to use the phrases “their commitment is absent” and “they become a negative influence in a team dressing room” I expect Poyet is negotiating the Spanish roads right now as he drives them to the airport to fly home and meet their agents. It's a brave strategy from Levy, but one he feels he has no choice but to pursue. Having given up on keeping our prize assets, he's now doing what he can to drive up their prices and get fans on-side.

The pre-season excitement that all football fans enjoy is taking a severe nose-dive for us. By the end of the weekend our official player of the season is likely to be a Liverpool player, and the previous winner of the award won’t be far away within the next week or so.

As for my own pick for last season’s player of the season, Steed Malbranque, it seems that he may well be joining Sunderland (along with Tainio and Chimbonda). Apparently Roy Keane is interested in Kaboul, but he wouldn’t join the Black Cats “even if there was an earthquake”.

Well Keane and Berba may want to move on, but surely Malbranque wouldn’t prefer a transfer to Sunderland over another season with us (especially after the Capel bid was rejected by Sevilla)? Levy may have given up on the former, but he needs to fight to keep the latter. Steed is one of our most hard-working and under-rated players.

And to avoid Ramos having an embarrassing selection dilemma, I guess Levy needs to try and sign the odd striker or two!

Ferguson and benitez are an absolute disgrace as are keane and berbatov for causing a stink in the dressing room. I hope both players recieve the same hostile welcome at the lane as scumball. United and liverpool should both be docked 15 poin ts to stop this happening again. levy should issue another statement stating we will never deal with either club again.

Keane your a disgrace cant believe it, take 20mil and get someone who wants to wear the shirt. Well done Levy can we have 11 of you on the pitch instead of 11 keane's next season!

Worrying times :-(

i cannot believe that we are going to lose both keane and berbatov in one go. we need to make sure we get in quality replacements or the season is over before it has even begun. i feel we need to sign villa or etoo and someone to go with either of them maybe milito or huntelaar. We also are in desperate need of a holding midfielder. Let me know what you think.

Fair point re; Steed. I am delighted that LEVY has done what he has done. I am so unbelievebly gutted right now. Modric GDS,Gomez and things looking great. BANG now both our strikers are leaving, how can you replace that quality in 4 weeks. We Can't
Loyalty is dead.. I have had enough of this, Berba is one hing but Robbie?? I thought he loved Spurs.. If this is love then what does hate look like.
I think we should plea for Keane not to go.. Fans together show how muc he means to us.. He might stay

keano wasnt the same player without berba so he can be replaced. it is the partnership that will be hard to replace. I feel as badly betrayed as when sol left. I hate both players with a passion , particularly keane after all his "i lkove tottenham" comments. Little cunt!

I am always of the opinion that there is no point in keeping players when they want to leave. With the money raised from these 2 sales, we will be able to afford whoever we want. If Levy is going public with this now the club must have known for a while. Ramos will have the replacements already chosen. Calm gentlemen calm

Good on levy for speaking out. If only oneil would do the same then the premier league might do something. The premiership isnt a competition anymore, its a 4 horse race.

I cant belive Robbie has shown such a lack of commitment to the club which I aswell as the majority of Spurs fans thought he loved im shocked!!

I for one am fed up with football, i have been a spurs supporter for 20 years and the way these players treat their contracts is a joke.
And as for the clubs paying 20, 30 million or more for players then charging us fans £50 to watch them it is an insult.
Money has ruined the beautiful game and me like many more are abandoning the game we used to love

Man Utd & Liverpool are wrong, but if both players want to leave spurs, then let them go as they will not have their heart with the club.
I always knew from last season that Berbatov might go,but for Keane wanting to leave is a big surprise, I hope some foreign club offer more money for Berbatov & good luck to him.

I am sick as a dog.The rumours and comments from both the Liverpool & Man U camps have been growing day by day. I think that both clubs are a complete disgrace for the conduct and totally unprofessional manner in which they have caused the current unsavoury and unsettling situation to fester and develop.I was resigned to losing Berbatov at the endof the season, but never in a million years anticipated that Keano would even consider leaving the club. I would sussest that he has definitely been tapped up and unsettled. I will be writing to both Liverpool FC and Man Utd Fc for a refund towards the cost of my recently purchased seasom ticket at The Lane. I feel that the Football League have to act as this can not be allowed to continue. We, the true and loyal supporters of Tottenham Hotspur Football Club deserve to be treated better and this whole farcical situation should have been dealt with severely by the powers that be some time ago.
Come on You Spurs!!

Disgraceful. Man Utd and Liverpool should both have 30 points deducted and banned from buying and selling players for three years. As for Keane and Berbatov that can f**k right off the pair of them. And if we don't get an offer of £30 million for each of them they can rot in the reserves until their contract expires!! Been following Spurs all over the land for years and am so disillusioned. Let em go form a Super league and leave the rest of us to enjoy Football not Money Go rounds. Hope it all collapses around their ears!!

Cruz? 20 mil? Surely not Julio Cruz from Inter?

i am gutted, i believed that keano was mr tottenham. i expected berbs to leave and am not too bothered about that as it was clear he wouldnt be here for long... but keane? i honestly thought he'd see out his career with us, become a spurs legend, hall of famer, everything!

the only thing is that this leaves bent. i cant see us selling him if we get rid of keane and berbs (then again i didnt think we'd sell keane if we got rid of berbs!) but bent played well as a lone striker for charlton, and ramos seems to prefer the lone-striker option. it remains to be seen if bent can reproduce the quality and goals record that he got at charlton the season before we signed him, but you never know. then again, if he flops... we won't have any good, experienced striker to take over.

i say buy luis garcia (experienced, ramos knows him from the spanish league) or push the boat out for huntelaar, eto'o, aguero (linked with an english club) or someone similar. we'll have around 50million to spend. i say get another striker in, get capel/bentley in (not really decided on whether we need both) and then get an experienced defensive midfielder. oh, and keep steed!

Levy is playing a very political game. He has known what we all know now for some time. He also knows that nothing will come of reporting both manure and Liverpool, however he gets to look like the injured party, oh but 50 mil better off of course. We are being mugged off, its a business after all. Clubs conduct transfers like this all the time, Spurs have done it many times, his croc tears are BS.

Unbelievable, year after year the top four (probably believe it or not less so Arsenal) have tried to upset any drive we may have had for the top four. They are so scared of us these were the only shit tactics left to them. What does that say about the whole club??. How can their fans stand by their clubs and managers when such evilness hangs over their club. Are their fans evil as well. That makes Spurs a true club of god!

in all fairness, spurs mugged off palace over bostock tho to be honest they lost one youngster for the future, whereas we are losing 2established, proven strikers

I hope Ronaldo leaves for Real then Utd will know what it feels like.
Keano was my hero and I thought he would be a Spur for life. Benitez needs to buy someone decent though as he keeps buying all these players no ones heard of!
I'm sure Keano will do his usual "no celebration" if he scores against us - out of respect - what a joke, he can shove his respect up his arse, so he knows what it feels like to be shafted!!

We didn't mug Palace for Bostock. We offered good money, greedy Jordan wanted more and although knew that the tribunal never favours the smaller club for the untested youth team player, he still went for it and lost. Spurs were completely innocent, they would have paid 5m had the tribunal ruled that. We just happened to convince him ahead of other clubs. Well done Spurs.
I dont think we should panic, I'm banking we buy some more quality with the cash and end up stronger.
Bent should have a future with the lone striker spot up for grabs, but we need to buy someone else of high quality, and then Pekhart can be 3rd choice. We have Giovani, Lennon, I say get Capel and keeep Steed and Taarabt and bring in somebody else attacking for the supporting players behind. This really may not be the end of the world. I say also to bring in Bentley to play alongside JJ and Modric and we will have a strong team. Stronger than I can remember.
We started the last two seasons poorly with players well gelled. Whose to say a half arsed Berba wouldn't have caused the same again. Keanes a sad one to see go, but I really dont think theres any huge concerns provided we bring in quality to replace him. It is a shame, he has spent 6 years growing into a Spurs legend but every legend surely needs to put their money where their mouth is when a bigger clubs shows interest. He unfortunately has jumped at the first opportunity very shortly after signing a 5 year contract and saying he wants to finish his career with us. Bye bye then Mr almost legend. We know where we stand with you. When he returns to the lane I hope for no boos, just stunned silence to greet him. Berba is of course a different story. Those of us living in reality knew he was just using us as a stepping stone to Man U during pre-season last year.
Both can get lost.

What is the point in following football if everytime you get a team to challenge the top 4, your best players leave. It's not just Spurs, but the competition is dying.
Nice comments ie, villa, huntelaar.. Be serious ! They want CL football do you honestly believe they would join us? Eto' "spurs are a mid-table club".
have had enough of this shit. If Robbie has no loyalty then not many others will have. SAF is the biggest Hypocrit of all time. "Ronaldo is on a contract, we are not selling". What is Berba on then???

This is why we should stop idolising players, and remember it's the football club that we love and that WE are what really matter.
Players will lap up the adoration, but just know they wont do too much with it other than feed their ego's.

He signed a 5 year contract and was off within 3 months, One Keano!, One Keano!
He said he supported Celtic but it's just cos he's a mick, One Keano!, One Keano!
We're glad you stopped your cartwheels cos you looked a proper dick, One Keano!, One Keano!
Become a car thiefs legend cos you'll never be a yid, One Keano!.....Oooonnnnneeee Keeeaaaaannnooo!

WHAT KEANE DID WAS WANK BUT FOR 6 YEARS HE HAS WORKED HIS BALLS OFF!

We thought that Keane loved Spurs, did we not think that of Sol the Judas. He was supposed to be a boyhood supporter! Money and Champions League talk these days, loyalty is DEAD! Boy I wish we finish 3rd or 4th this season and Manure and the scouses finish 5th and 6th respectively. Yeah I know dream on!

Berbatov & Keane have had their best seasons in the premier league-I wasn't expecting either to repeat the goal fest from the last 2 seasons again and i doubt whether either will hit 20 goals next season -regardless of who they play for.
Mr Levy has been very astute in his announcement:Man U & Pool will definately be PAYING for their behaviour.
I am not concerened, Ramos & Levy will have identified who will provide the firepower and Bent will finally get his chance -and he'll take it.

Anonymous said...

In Levy & Ramos i trust, the only way to show the 2 cunts aforementioned (cant bring myself to type their names) what they are missing is by getting results against their new clubs next season, fuck em both the futures bright the futures LILYWHITE.COYS

Anonymous said...

It is quite understandable with berbatov that he wants to leave, but keane has really broken the hearts of the spurs fans. After stating that he wanted to stay at the lane as long as possible, the bastard has shown his true colour. I would have never thought I would be typing such stuff against the name of keane. But if the prie is right he can fucking leave.
You know what we have got ramos and the hard nosed levy to bargain for them and bring in better players. This may turn out to be a good thing.
I am sorry to say this but I hope rafa can rotate the game out off keane just as he has done with so many other good players.

Like to make a few points, money we get from the sale of these two traitors will not all go towards buying players, we have to balance the books! For christs sake those who are thinking of GDS as a savior wake up, there is no way in hell that this guy can be a starter in the prem. league. Biggest problem is no matter how much we pay good players will not come to Spurs as has been reported recently, but if somehow we can get a couple of new signings we can live with the two cunts leaving considering they don't fit into Ramos' style of play.Never liked Keane no matter what, so he can occupy the bench at liverpool,be sad to see Berba return in that disgusting red shirt.
